In this new addition to our blog posts explaining different technologies like Construction Technology, Property Technology and Insurance Technology, we talk about another of those trendy buzzwords that a lot of people use without really knowing what they mean: CleanTech. We will answer the following questions: what is CleanTech?, how does CleanTech benefit traditional businesses? and what CleanTech solutions do we offer?. Keep reading to find out how CleanTech can help you to #ONEUPYOURBUSINESS.

WHAT IS CLEANTECH?

CleanTech is the acronym for Clean Technology and it refers to the use of Technology to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, minimise waste, protect the environment and maximise sustainability of resources. Like Agriculture Technology and Property Technology, people use Clean Technology to refer to the startups that operate within the sector, but Clean Technology is more suitable for the technologies themselves.

Some of the technologies that are more relevant include Thermal imaging, 3D visualisations, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis.

HOW DOES CLEAN TECHNOLOGY BENEFIT TRADITIONAL BUSINESSES?

Since the Industrial Revolution and up until recently, we really never cared for the emissions that we were dumping to the atmosphere, how efficient our energy production and consumption were or how much waste we were creating. However, we have realised that with an excessive overpopulation our planet’s resources are limited and that if we keep damaging the environment as before, we would not have a place to live in a very summary amount of time. The world’s population mentality has changed thanks to the efforts of people like Sir David Attenborough and some of his documentaries like Blue Planet II.

With technological advancements in the last few decades, we are now at a point in time when we can start taking action to remediate the damage that we have done to the environment.

Smart sensors that control heating, energy, water, lighting, foot traffic, etc., can give a huge amount of information that we would not get otherwise. This information can be later analysed and processed to understand usage habits and therefore tailor how we consume energy and other resources, with substantial savings in utility bills.

Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science can truly make an impact by interpreting the data collected by the aforementioned smart sensors and come up with different patterns and predictions that can further optimise the energy usage and maximise the savings.

Software Development is useful in order to present the results of Artificial Intelligence in an easy and comprehensible way to your partners and customers. For the ultimate experience, 3D Models and Digital Twins will give you a new interactive and immersive way of accessing your data.

Drones are very well suited to Clean Technology. They allow us to produce reports and inspections much quicker, more efficiently and safer than using traditional methods. Drones have the ability to fly while using different sensors, like high-definition thermal cameras, and photographic cameras. With drones we can assess how effective your Carbon Sequestration strategy is. We talked about carbon sequestration in a previous article.

Thermal reports are used to detect heat leaks in buildings and roofs, giving us an insight about the efficiency of the buildings. All thermal reports can be overlaid on top of normal visual inspections and will be tagged with accurate GPS coordinates.
